Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors influencing the intention of deinstitutionalization of the disabled living in facilities and to suggest a future improvement plan of policy for their independent living support. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 401 people with disabilities in 146 residential facilities in Gyeonggi-do and we used binary logistic regression as an analysis method to analyze the influencing factors of intention of deinstitutionalization of disabled people in facilities. As a result, demographic factors such as young age, high educational level and high ADL make the intention of deinstitutionalization strong. Also, facility factors like long period of residence, low facility satisfaction and independent living factors like having information of independent living support, good independent living service, few community preconceptions about disability make it strong. Based on this, the study suggests policy implications such as providing information of deinstitutionalization and independent living, housing support for settlement in the community, extended hours of activity support service immediately after deinstitutionalization, daytime activities support to prevent re-institutionalization, and support for economic activities like employment.
